AWAKENING FEMININO 23rd March

A woman shares a thousand things with the cat. One of them is the ability to lie down stretched on the sofa, purring softly. But that is just about it – because you never know what is going on in the cat’s (woman’s) mind.

How can you know about the woman – her world, her wildest fantasies, her relationship with her handbag, her God, and her number one enemy (or is it friend?) the man?

You can do two things; ask the cat or ask the woman.

AwakeningKenya (Awakening.or.ke) sponsored by Safaricom Kenya brings together six performers, who have been performing on poetry, tales and music. They are Namatsi Lukoye, Sitawa Wafula, Wanjiku Mwaura, Carol Njenga, Emylee and Jannet Mumo.

Backed by one of the Afro-fusion thrillers Lele Ngoma, they will be at the refurbished Michael Joseph Centre, at Safaricom House talking to men while they compare notes with other tens of women set to attend the show. The event will be emceed by the Slam Champion Wanjiku Mwaurah.

The organizer and brains after the Awakening Concept, Oduor Jagero, says that the event is gonna be an avenue through which people shall explore various areas of life even as they impact others. Springing from a monthly event (Poetry Spot) that used to attract up to 800 pole per month, AwakeningKenya is reinventing itself and giving a wider platform where everyone can speak on matters that will positively change citizens of the country.

The event goes down on the Saturday of the 23rd of March at Safaricom House, Michael Joseph Centre from 4PM.

Tick tock tick tock I hear the maternal clock ticking I feel my ovaries jumping up and down in celebration I feel the tubes smoothness in preparations of the seed This seed saved up for just this day… this seed what they call blessing Oh this seed that will maybe carry my eyes, my smile, my legs or may be my beautiful small breasts This seed… I feel the maternal clock ticking tick tock tick tock Tick tock tick tock I hear the maternal clock ticking I feel it in my brain… it flashes like the sound of a nice song I see it in little baby Sean… when he smiles at me I see it in his big white and black eyes… and the beautiful chuckle he make when I play with his tummy I felt in beautiful baby Natalie, when her soft hands touched mine I felt it when I touched my best-friend's tummy….
