Disrupt - Who am I
Often the universe leads us to paths that lead us to new roads - I recently went to a the land of seeds; thanks to Hivos. Here are the poems I wrote for Disrupt.
Who am I
I am a seed in the soil
A farmer in the field
The seed company I am the link – I am the
bridge
I am here and I have something to say
No pain no gain but this train I ride is too
long
The rain I see, fall is too plain
It fills me with needless pain
Ni usiku wa manane giza kote imeenea
Amelala shujaa, mkulima – kesho ifike jembe
akashike
Si usingizi mzito ni ule wa kudukuadukua
Ule wa kuhofia – wa kufikiria
Kidogo amelala, kidogo anaamka wasi wasi –
kila mara
Tukajajua mja huyu ni bingwa! Kwani sote twamtegemea
Vita ametupigania – chakula mezani kifike - lazima nimzungumzie
He stands alone – feels alone
– looks for hope
Stripped of rights
In a country so rich
Stripped of rights
In a country so rich
I am a
seed in the soil
A farmer in
the field
The seed
company I am the link – I am the bridge
I am here
and I have something to say
In sleepless nights with no lights
Plow and plant till bones ache and hands cry
Sweat with honest labour
So rain, rain oh please rain
Pour down like you know us – come back to us
For all is not lost to the farmer who keeps on
keeping on
So keep on keeping on
The winds of change will blow
The markets will colours glow
I am a
seed in the soil
A farmer in
the field
The seed
company I am the link – I am the bridge
I am here
and I have something to say
And surely from the safety of the angels eyes
We are deeply felt – we breathe with ease
Past fake seeds we plant real
Past lack of funds we purely give
This is not a poem to break you or make you
weep…
Rather it is to build and ask you to breathe
And ask you to keep on keeping on
I am a
seed in the soil
A farmer in
the field
The seed
company I am the link – I am the bridge
I am here
and I have something to say
The Language of Seeds
Hey you…
Do you know me –?
Think! Have you seen me?
Shrink… have you felt my need
In these great times we live ----
When we are dropping, fading and
leaving no print
Hey you…
Do you know me –?
Do you know my name?
Or where here I am from or the gifts I proclaim…
Life – health –wellness
hey you, Think
You should know me
You should feel my need in these great times we live
No rain no flowers…
No flowers no seeds – no seeds no growth – no life – no me – know me
Hey you
Do you feel me…?
They have dropped some of us along the way –
We were not fit they would say…
One by one… we would become yesterday
You see some people are not good or kind with plants
Even the best of us dry up in their hands
But there is a different type of people you see
Whose mind is not blind
Who is kind, enough to give us life
Without which I would have remained inert
A lost life, in the dirt
Hey you – do you know me
Do you know my name?
Say my name –
Say my name –
Yes say my name – so I can live far and wide
