The world is so full of sadness
This I saw from his dark brown eyes
welling up with tears
looking up to me
saying
silently
'help me, Please'
This eyes of this little boy
in hospital
dying from a disease
that was killing him slowly and yet with so much pain

The world is so full of sadness
This I saw from her brown eyes
welling up with tears
looking straight at me
as if she wanted to teach me something
saying
I had I known earlier,
I would have done something about
this madness and craziness
I encouraged in my younger yeears
has led to all this destruction
of nature and mankind


The world is so full of sadness
I saw this in the pictures he took
the pictures of people who know not of peace
the pictures oh the pictures
that filled my eyes with tears
blazed houses
lost kids
dead loved ones
smashed hearts
scared faces
butchered limbs
and crying fathers and mothers
saying
'why oh why'

This world is so full of sadness
I read this in his speech
in the lies he told
and the false hope he preached
in his greed
his rise to riches as his people lavished in poverty
all this he did for the love of the top seat

This world is so full of sadness
I saw it in his eyes, in her eyes
as he took systematically drank another tusker
as she waited for him to come home in the middle of the night
as he blamed her for loving him no more
as she blamed him for having lost his job
and sometimes while the kids watched
a slap would land
a yell would follow
and one parent would be gone

This world is so full of sadness
sometimes I think about it and cry
cry mostly because its all I can do to help
because I am powerless
and because this world is so full of sadness

Tick tock tick tock I hear the maternal clock ticking I feel my ovaries jumping up and down in celebration I feel the tubes smoothness in preparations of the seed This seed saved up for just this day… this seed what they call blessing Oh this seed that will maybe carry my eyes, my smile, my legs or may be my beautiful small breasts This seed… I feel the maternal clock ticking tick tock tick tock Tick tock tick tock I hear the maternal clock ticking I feel it in my brain… it flashes like the sound of a nice song I see it in little baby Sean… when he smiles at me I see it in his big white and black eyes… and the beautiful chuckle he make when I play with his tummy I felt in beautiful baby Natalie, when her soft hands touched mine I felt it when I touched my best-friend's tummy….
